HikerAPI is an Instagram-only API from the team behind instagrapi, the open-source Python library for Instagram’s private API (7,000 GitHub stars). Its OpenAPI spec lists 167 endpoints covering profiles, posts, reels, stories, highlights, follower and following lists, likers, comments, hashtags, locations, audio and search. No other Instagram API in our ranking goes this deep, and at $1 per 1,000 requests, falling to $0.60 at volume, it’s also one of the cheapest.
The catch is how it gets there. Its About page describes a “managed account pool” that recovers from Instagram’s login and challenge errors, which points to logged-in accounts, not the logged-off scraping the Meta v. Bright Data ruling covered. Trustpilot has withheld its rating over fake reviews, and it publishes no legal entity or address. It ranks fourth for Instagram: the best data in the category, held back by those risks.

Pricing
A prepaid balance with no subscription, and the balance never expires. The more you’ve loaded, the lower your rate, and once you unlock a rate it stays; the pricing page doesn’t say what the thresholds are. It bills 200, 400, 403 and 404 responses, but not 50x errors or retired endpoints. Its docs also list a $0.02-a-request Start tier that the pricing page doesn’t mention.

Using HikerAPI
Signing up
Sign-up gives you 100 free requests without a card. Onboarding asks you to confirm a Telegram account, and payments go through a CloudPayments widget. Above a million requests, you agree a plan by email or Telegram.
Making a request
Calls are synchronous REST requests with your key in an x-access-key header, returning JSON. Lists page with page_id or end_cursor. Most endpoints cost one request, but some cost two or three because of extra privacy checks or ID lookups; adding force=on skips the privacy check and saves one. The x-hiker-info header on each response tells you what the call cost. Expect overlapping mobile, GraphQL and web versions of the same data, with the docs steering you to preferred ones.

Verdict
HikerAPI has the best Instagram data in our ranking at one of the lowest prices, and if you need follower lists, stories or likers, it’s the deepest and cheapest option here; only TikHub comes close, on worse terms. We’d use it knowing the risks: it appears to rely on logged-in accounts, Trustpilot has withheld its rating over fake reviews, no legal entity is published, and it bills 400, 403 and 404 responses. If profiles, posts and reels are enough, ScrapeCreators and Influship are the safer defaults.

Are HikerAPI and LamaTok the same company?

How much does HikerAPI cost?
$1 per 1,000 requests on the popular rate, falling to $0.69 and then $0.60 as your balance grows, with 100 free requests to start. A profile lookup is one request, and a comments call returns 15 comments for one request. There’s no subscription, and the balance never expires.
Can HikerAPI get Instagram followers and stories?
Yes. Follower and following lists, stories, highlights and post likers are all covered, which is the main reason to pick it over ScrapeCreators, EnsembleData or Bright Data.
Does HikerAPI charge for failed requests?
It doesn’t charge for 50x errors or retired endpoints, but it does charge for 400, 403 and 404 responses. A list with many deleted or private accounts will cost you.
