Which Social API

EnsembleData review

A TikTok specialist sold as a daily allowance of units. It’s the cheapest serious option per TikTok post and follower if you use your allowance every day, and expensive everywhere else.

The short version

Pick it if

  • You run steady, daily TikTok collection
  • You want TikTok follower lists and hashtag or keyword search at a low cost per item
  • You prefer a fixed monthly bill to prepaid credits

Skip it if

  • Your volume is spiky or unpredictable
  • Instagram is your main platform
  • You need transcripts, or any real depth on X

EnsembleData is a Singapore-registered API, strongest on TikTok, that also covers Instagram, YouTube, X, Threads, Reddit, Twitch and Snapchat through one token. TikTok gets 20 endpoints: profiles, posts, comments, follower and following lists, liked posts, hashtag, keyword and music search, and live search. Paginated calls take a depth setting, so one request fetches many pages, and some accept a cut-off date, which keeps incremental monitoring cheap. That’s why it ranks second for TikTok, behind only ScrapeCreators.

The billing shape decides whether it suits you. You pay monthly for a daily allowance of units that resets at midnight UTC and doesn’t roll over. Used every day, TikTok posts work out at about $0.24 per 1,000 on the $100 Wood plan. Used unevenly, you pay for capacity you never touch. Instagram is costly in units and missing follower lists, stories and its hashtag endpoint, so it ranks seventh there and sixth across platforms.

Pricing

Every endpoint costs a fixed or per-item number of units, documented with worked examples. Units reset daily at 00:00 UTC and don’t roll over, so the rates below assume you use every unit, every day. Failed requests caused by EnsembleData’s own errors aren’t charged. On the Wood plan, a TikTok profile costs about $2.22 per 1,000, TikTok posts about $0.24 per 1,000 and an Instagram profile about $6.67 per 1,000.

Using EnsembleData

Signing up

The free trial gives you 50 units a day with no card, enough to try every endpoint at small scale. Paid plans are monthly subscriptions through Stripe, by card or bank transfer.

Making a request

Every call is a synchronous GET that returns JSON, with your token passed as a query parameter. That’s convenient, but a token in the URL can leak into logs. Paginated endpoints take a depth parameter and fetch that many pages server-side in one call: TikTok user posts at depth 10 returns 100 posts for 11 units. The official Python client reports units_charged on each response, and there are endpoints for checking used units and history.

Documentation

Clear on cost, which is what matters with unit billing: every endpoint has worked examples of what it charges. There’s an OpenAPI spec and tutorials. The docs and the marketing don’t always agree: the Instagram hashtag endpoint has disappeared from the docs, but the pricing page still lists it. Its status page keeps a monthly incident history, including a TikTok IP ban in July 2026 that hit user info and search for about six and a half hours.

Support

Support is by email and a contact form. Trustpilot reviewers, several of them academic researchers, repeatedly praise how quickly the founder responds, though there are only 11 reviews. Enterprise SLAs are offered; the terms aren’t published.

Verdict

8.3

EnsembleData is the TikTok specialist to pick if your volume is steady. Its TikTok coverage is deep, its per-item prices are the lowest of the serious options when you use your allowance, and it documents every cost. It’s the wrong shape for spiky workloads, where ScrapeCreators’ never-expiring credits and Influship’s pay-after-use billing waste nothing. Don’t buy it for Instagram: profiles cost $6.67 per 1,000 on the entry plan, there are no follower lists or stories, and the hashtag endpoint is gone. If you’re already on it for TikTok, the same token covers Instagram and YouTube for lighter work.

Questions

How do EnsembleData units work?

Each plan gives you a number of units a day: 1,500 on the $100 Wood plan, up to 50,000 on Platinum. Every endpoint costs a set number of units, and the allowance resets at 00:00 UTC. Unused units don’t carry over.

Does EnsembleData have a free trial?

Yes. The free trial gives you 50 units a day with no card.

Is EnsembleData good for Instagram?

Only if you already use it for TikTok. Instagram is expensive in units, at 3 for a profile and 10 for a detailed one, which comes to $6.67 per 1,000 profiles on the entry plan. There are no follower lists or stories, and the hashtag endpoint has gone from the docs.

Does EnsembleData use fake accounts?

It says it scrapes only public data “without using fake accounts”. It also calls itself compliant with platform terms, which is a marketing claim: platform terms generally forbid scraping.

Does EnsembleData have transcripts?

No. It has no transcripts on TikTok, Instagram or YouTube. ScrapeCreators, Influship and Apify all offer them.

EnsembleData or ScrapeCreators?

EnsembleData if you collect TikTok data every day at a steady rate and want the lowest cost per post and follower. ScrapeCreators if your volume varies, if you need transcripts, or if Instagram matters as much as TikTok.
