TikAPI vs EnsembleData
Two subscription TikTok APIs built for different jobs. One reads public data; the other can also act on accounts your users connect. EnsembleData is the better buy for public TikTok data; TikAPI is the only one that lets your users connect their own accounts.
Researched by Which Social API editorial teamLast reviewed 29 October 2026How we review
Which Social API uses a mix of qualitative and quantitative review methods, based on each provider’s documentation, published pricing and public user reviews. We never accept money in exchange for a higher ranking or a better review. Who runs this site
The quick answer
For public TikTok data, EnsembleData. Its prices are published and unchanged since at least January 2025, its docs show the unit cost of every endpoint, its status page logs incidents openly, and if you use your daily allowance it’s the cheapest serious option for posts and followers. TikAPI’s public endpoints are good, but its prices are known only from third-party reports.
TikAPI wins if your app works with your users’ own TikTok accounts. Through OAuth they connect their account, and you can read their feed, notifications, messages and creator analytics, and follow, like or comment for them. No other API we rank does that. Go in knowing its prices come from third-party reports, there’s no status page, and 15% of its Trustpilot reviews are 1-star.

Pricing compared
Both are monthly subscriptions with daily caps. EnsembleData publishes its prices. TikAPI’s figures are third-party reports from July to September 2026, not confirmed on its own site.
Features side by side
If you’re building on the API
TikAPI has two halves. Public endpoints, called with an API key, cover profiles, posts, liked videos, followers, comments, hashtags, music, playlists, explore and search. User endpoints need an account key from TikAPI’s OAuth flow and act on a connected account; some are limited to Business and Enterprise plans, and sending messages or starting live streams is reserved for “trusted customers”. You can choose which country requests come from. Its JavaScript and Python SDKs were last updated in July 2026.
EnsembleData is read-only public data: 20 TikTok endpoints, each with unit-cost examples in the docs, a depth setting that fetches many pages in one call, and date cut-offs for monitoring. Its Python and Node SDKs report the units charged. The token goes in the URL.

Where each falls short
TikAPI
None of its prices are confirmed: the $29, $79 and $189 plans come from third-party reports. There’s no status page and no public changelog, and 15% of its Trustpilot reviews are 1-star, citing technical issues, outages and an authorisation problem that broke production for days. There are no transcripts, no Shop or ads data and no other platforms.
EnsembleData
It can’t touch a user’s account: no OAuth and no actions, only public data. Units reset daily and don’t roll over, there are no transcripts, and the token in the URL can leak into logs. Its Trustpilot sample is 11 reviews, none in the last year.

Questions
Is TikAPI or EnsembleData better?
EnsembleData for public TikTok data: published prices, clear docs and a status page. TikAPI only if you need OAuth access to your users’ own accounts, which nothing else we rank offers.
How much does TikAPI cost?
TikAPI’s own prices aren’t confirmed. Third parties reported plans of $29, $79 and $189 a month between July and September 2026, with daily caps of 300, 2,000 and 10,000 requests, plus a monthly fee per extra connected user. Confirm with TikAPI before you budget.
Can EnsembleData act on a TikTok account?
No. It only reads public data. TikAPI is the only API we rank with OAuth access to users’ own accounts.
Is it safe to connect accounts to TikAPI?
There’s no public answer. TikTok’s terms bar automated data extraction it hasn’t approved in writing, so connected accounts carry some risk. Ask TikAPI before you put real users through it.
Does either have TikTok transcripts?
No. For transcripts, look at ScrapeCreators or Apify.
