Modash vs HypeAuditor
The two influencer databases most in-house teams shortlist first. Both search creators, estimate audiences and score fake followers. They differ on price, platforms and how easy they are to buy. Modash is cheaper, easier to buy and the better search tool; HypeAuditor is the pick for fraud checks and for X or Twitch.
Researched by Which Social API editorial teamLast reviewed 29 October 2026How we review
Which Social API uses a mix of qualitative and quantitative review methods, based on each provider’s documentation, published pricing and public user reviews. We never accept money in exchange for a higher ranking or a better review. Who runs this site
The quick answer
For most teams, Modash. It publishes every price, starts at $199 a month billed annually or $299 monthly with no contract, and has a 14-day trial with no card. Its search is the deeper of the two, it explains how its audience estimates and credibility score are made, and discovery, CRM, inbox, tracking and Shopify gifting all sit in one app.
HypeAuditor wins if fraud is your main worry or you work beyond Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. It started as a fake-follower checker, every report carries 35+ vetting metrics and an Audience Quality Score, and it covers X and Twitch as well. Expect to talk to sales: its pricing page is a demo form, and its own blog says plans start at $299 a month on an annual contract.

Features side by side
If you’re building on the API
Modash sells two APIs, both annual-only. The Discovery API covers search, AI search, profile and audience reports, collaborations and email search, priced in credits from $16,200 a year. The Raw API fetches live public posts, reels, comments and follower changes per request, from $10,000 a year. Failed requests aren’t charged, unused credits roll over during the contract, and the docs are OpenAPI-based with example code.
HypeAuditor’s API is a separate paid service, quoted by sales. It centres on reports: you request one for an Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Twitch or Snapchat account, and the API returns a 202 while it builds. Discovery, market analysis, campaign management and media plans are covered too. It’s the broader of the two on platforms, but you can’t price it without a call.

Where each falls short
Modash
It covers Instagram, TikTok and YouTube only, with no X, Twitch or LinkedIn. Monthly caps on opened profiles and email unlocks are the main complaint in reviews, and the emails are only ones creators list publicly. Audience data isn’t available when a creator’s follower list is private. The API is a separate annual contract paid by bank transfer.
HypeAuditor
You can’t see what you’ll pay without a demo, and the entry plan is annual. Basic leaves out AI search, the Audience Quality Score filter and advanced audience filters. G2 reviewers say the interface can feel overwhelming at first and that search results need checking by hand, and reviews mention weaker coverage of local creators in smaller European markets. Its claim to catch 95.5% of known fraud hasn’t been independently audited.
